End of School Year - Procedures

As the end of this school year is coming to an end, we would like to remind you of few important points in regards to your child/ren’s withdrawal process at ICS Addis.

Elementary Students

Your child's teaching assistant will have the checkout form completed by obtaining all the required signatures. Upon receiving the completed checkout form, the withdrawal packet for elementary students will be sent to their classroom on their last day of school, unless you request to pick it up in person from the reception desk.

Middle and High School Students

Middle and high school students are responsible to obtain all the required signatures.  Upon completion of the checkout form, the students must submit them to the reception/admissions office to collect their withdrawal packets on their last day at ICS.

Please make sure all school and library books, instruments and other school owned materials are returned on time for the checkout form to be complete. Any outstanding charges with the Business Office and the Cafeteria must be settled as well.

Prepaid Service Accounts

If your child has a balance remaining on his or her Prepaid Service account, you may withdraw the money from the cashier's office. Any unclaimed balances will be donated to the scholarship club fund.

We wish you and your family all the best!

NO more plastic water bottles sold on campus

In an effort to recognize the impact of plastic on our environment and climate, we are pleased to announce that beginning August 2017, plastic water bottles will no longer be sold on campus! Based on the initiative of the HS GAIN group, ICS will try to do our part and eventually phase out all plastic bottles.  For now, we will start with water bottles.

Be sure to bring your own water bottle in August!

Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Results for Students in Grades 2-10

The results of the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment are now available for students in grades 2-10.  As soon as internet capabilities are restored, ICS will sent out an information letter and the individual map results for each student via email. Due to timing constraints, ICS will no longer host a formal parent information session about MAP and how to read the results. If parents have individual questions or concerns about the MAP scores or report once received, they may contact the divisional principal or the Director of Teaching and Learning, Elaine Nicholson.

E-PADS towel collection drive!

E-pads is a group of girls who are making sanitary napkins for schoolgirls in Addis. Ethiopian schoolgirls miss up to a quarter of their school year because they stay at home during their periods due to a lack of sanitary pads. Our goal is to provide them with pads so they can stay in school and get more out of their education. To do this, though, we need materials, some of these being towels, flannel, cotton, and plastic milk-bags. Since we don't have enough materials to donate ourselves, we would like to put an announcement in the Yezare Samint so we can get the help of the ICS community. Here is what the announcement would look like:

"Empowerment for girls:

Hello ICS community! E-pads is organizing a recyclable fabric drive to collect materials to make sanitary pads that will be donated to schoolgirls in Addis. The e-pads group are students who make reusable pads for underprivileged Ethiopian girls to make the best of their education. We would appreciate your donation of towels, flannel, cotton, and plastic milk-bags. These are the materials that we require to make the sanitary pads, so please deposit them in the reception. We will take donations until June 12th. Thank you very much for your help!"

Thank you for helping us raise awareness for our project, it means a lot to us.
