ISSEA SOCCER @ ICS 19-23 April
As we head into spring break, our attention turns to hosting one of the biggest ISSEA events there is, as we are now less than 40 days away from 14 soccer teams arriving here to contest the soccer/football trophies in both male and female divisions. 154 athletes and over 25 coaches will descend on ICS for three very full days of matches in mid-April.
Total number of beds needed (at time of going to press) = 132
Thank you to the Herforth-Madsen, Voorbraak, Jarrett, Nasreddin, Kennedy, McCullough, Cummings, Yangin, Oboth and Yde-Andersen families who have stepped up already to host our international guests. We do need the community to take care of the visitors’ home stay needs during their four night stay here, just as our own students are taken care of on their international trips throughout the year. A host family provides a safe environment with a bed (mattress), a few meals and transport to and from school each day for between two and eight student athletes. The athletes are under ISSEA rules and will be at school all day playing or supporting the soccer event.
The form below can be used to input your details and we also have a hard copy document ready for pick-up outside the ASA office for those with home internet issues. All ICS families are eligible to participate and we really need you to assist us in this hosting experience. Hosting is an enjoyable part of the event that enables our visitors a safe and warm experience outside of their school event.
Let’s get this number of beds needed down quickly for next time!!
Some of our teams have already played a number of games due to a rushed schedule with upcoming exams in May.
Live action this week:
U14 Girls Volleyball vs Italian
U14 Boys Volleyball @St Joseph
U16 Boys Soccer @ Bingham
U19 Girls Soccer vs Bingham 4:00 PM
U19 Boys Soccer vs Bingham 5:30 PM
After spring break:
U19 Girls Soccer vs Sandford
U16 Boys Soccer @ Sandford
All teams enjoy your attendance at the games so please do come and watch as many games as you can. Watching live sports is always great and this is an opportunity to support our young athletes in action. Parents are very welcome at away games too. Please bring a school ID to gain entry into those schools, and it is important to remember that coaches will not release students to anyone but parents at the away venues.
ES Season 3 ASA sign up opened on Tuesday and will remain open until midday on Friday. This opening went very well, even though demand for activities was huge and some ASAs filled up very quickly as is the norm here. Luckily, we have excellent alternatives in our program.
MS/HS will have a soft opening Monday 20 March from 8:00 AM and sign up can be done at home, in school or during advisory as there is not the same urgency as ES. Season 3 will start 27 March and end on 26 May.
There are a few outstanding travel bags and uniforms needed to be returned from Season 2. Please bring these in.
The STEM trip to Mozambique and the Golf and Tennis Trip to Zimbabwe will need documents, paperwork and payments paying first day back after the spring break, Monday. The Mozambique embassy in particular can take considerable time in issuing visas and we want to make sure all out selected students make that plane. Thank you for being pro-active in this to ensure travel.
Please sign up for housing, get ready for season 3 ASAs, and have a great but active spring break!
